WinNFAD FEATURES IN V 2.0.0:

·  Loading in longitudinal and transverse directions are considered separately.

·   Calculates initial deflections and reactions in existing piles due to dead loads only.

·   Moment vs. rotation analysis (includes top of column deflection, max and min pileloads & deflections).

·   Calculates pile reactions and deflections due to demand moment and axial load.

·   Calculates lateral group reduction factor for each pile.

·   Shear vs. lateral deflection analysis (considers soil on cap and pile group effects).

·   Calculates lateral pile reactions & deflections, soil reaction and soil stress due to demand shear loads.

·   Check one-way shear at distance "d" from column face. Calculates shear flow on top of existing footing

and determines required shear dowel spacing.

·   Calculates shear on vertical face of existing footing and determines required vertical shear dowel spacing.

·   Designs or checks bottom and top flexural reinforcement.

·   When the pile layout is symmetric about both axes, the analysis is correct about each axes.

·   When the pile layout is symmetric about one axis only, the analysis is approximate about that axis and

   correct about the other axis.

·  When the pile layout is unsymmetric about both axes, the analysis is approximate about each axes. ·   Considers square or rectangular footings

·   Plots Moment vs. Rotation results, Shear vs. Deflection results and plots PileLayout.

·   Plots Compression, Tension, and Lateral Shear Force-Deflection Curves for Existing and Retrofit piles.

·   Plots Stress-Strain curve for Tie-Downs

.

Program Overview:

WinNFAD may be used to Design/Check an 'Existing' (non-retrofit) pile footing or Design/Check a 'Retrofit' footing with any combination of 'Existing' piles and 'Retrofit' piles and 'Tie-Downs'.  A spread footing may be modeled by describing a group of 'Existing' piles with zero Tension and Lateral Force-Displacement Curves and a Compression Force-Displacement Curve to represent the soil as a spring.  The column may be placed anywhere on the footing (i.e. unsymmetrical pile layout).  The footing is analyzed separately in the longitudinal and transverse directions.  Axial loads and bending moments are applied at the column centroid about the applicable axis.  The column centroid is located at X & Y coordinates (0,0).  The footing is assumed to be infinitely rigid with no flexural deformation of the footing considered.  For a given footing rotation, a neutral axis is assumed and pile deflections are calculated.  These deflections are used to determine pile reactions from nonlinear force-deflection curves modeled as piece-wise linear curves.  The program allows separate compression, tension and lateral force-deflection curves for the existing piles and retrofit piles.  The program iterates on the neutral axis location until the sum of the vertical forces are zero.  The footing moment is then determined by summing the pile reactions about the footing neutral axis.  Refer to, Appendix-B Hand Solution, of the On-Line Help System, for a discussion to the methodology and equations used by WinNFAD
